Retribution

Eva faded in and out of consciousness as the interrogation continued. Each time she passed out Saito would inject her with a cocktail of stims to bring her mind and body rushing back to reality. Her muscles burned from the intense stress brought on by the electrocutions and the stims that never let them rest. Her back felt like it was on fire, lashed over and over as a brutal method to snap her back to attention each time her mind started to fade.

The cycle repeated so many times that Eva was surprised to find herself fading back on her body's own terms. Voices touched at her mind at the edge of her consciousness, dull and muffled at first but clearing up with every breath she took.

"We are wasting time here. She's a dead end."

"Sell her?"

"No. She's untrainable. We'll end up having to refund the buyer. Space her, but keep her alive until you get into a quiet spot otherwise scans will detect the corpse."

"Yes, Mr Yokoyama."

"I am returning to the carrier. I will leave this mess in your hands to clean up."

The door closed and Eva could hear Calum's heavy footsteps approaching. She kept her head down and remained still to feign unconsciousness as he detached the electrodes from her skin and unbuckled the straps around her wrist. As he unbuckled her ankles she heard him let out a disappointed sigh.

"A shame. You'd have fetched a good price with a pretty face like that. Well, once we got you all healed up."

When she felt one of his hands touch her shoulder she opened her eyes and only took a heartbeat to take in her options. If there was one thing the intense training back on Gen had taught her it was how to think fast under pressure. Putting all of her strength into her legs she kicked up, slamming her right leg up between the man's legs and driving her shin into his groin.

He let out a strangled cry of pain and stepped back a couple of steps, one hand cupping his crotch. Eva pushed herself up off the chair and forced her burning muscles to move her. She half stumbled, the muscles in her legs screaming in agony at being made to move after suffering so much punishment. With a scream of exertion she collided bodily with the man, sending the two of them to the floor.

Eva rolled off and up onto her hands and knees, glancing back at Calum. He had hit the back of his head on the solid floor when he fell backwards but he was coming back to his senses faster than Eva would have liked. She half dragged herself across the floor to the table and grabbed the edge of it, hauling herself up so that she could pull the bag to the floor that they had kept the stims in. She fished around inside and pulled out a handful of self-injecting vials.

"This is a really bad idea........" she muttered to herself as she started to press the ends of vials against her skin, injecting the stims directly into her thighs, stomach and arms. For a moment Eva caught herself thankful that these monsterous people at least had the decency to buy high grade drugs as they spread through her muscles numbing the pain and injecting artificial strength into them.

Testing her strength she pushed herself to her feet as Calum was getting back to his. This man was big and he was strong, but he was slow. She did not know how long the stims would keep her going for, so she had to end this fast.

"You'll pay for that, you little bitch." the man snarled at her as he approached and swung a fist at her. She ducked back and slapped a the back of the hand as it passed by her, turning as she did and extending her other hand in a first to catch the man across the temple with a backhand punch. He staggered back, clutching at the side of his head. She pushed the attack, stepping up and driving a heel kick into his thigh as hard as she could manage.

Calum grunted loudly with pain and went to step towards her, but stumbled when he put his weight onto the leg that Eva had just kicked. She'd driven her heel directly into the muscle and had corked his thigh, sapping it of a great deal of its strength. As he stumbled forwards she used her smaller agile body to get behind him and then drove her knee into his lower back sending him sprawling to the floor.

The large man pushed his hands on the floor and tried to push himself up, but Eva was on him before he could find any stability. She stomped her heel into the side of his face, taking a moment of satisfaction at the solid thud that resounded when the men's head collided with the concrete floor.

Eva walked a few steps back to the chair she had been tied to and grabbed one arm of it. Picking it up she admired the sturdy build of the furniture for a moment before she raised it above her head and brought it down as hard as she could onto the back of the unconscious man's head.
